盐池县位于宁夏东部、陕西、甘肃、宁夏和内蒙古的交界处。滩羊是羊的一种，因为肉质鲜嫩，很少有普通羊肉的腥味，又不失其特有的风味，所以适合各种烹调方法。
Yanchi County is located in the eastern part of Ningxia, at the border of Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, and Inner Mongolia. Tan sheep is a type of sheep, known for its tender meat with minimal gaminess, while still retaining its unique flavor, making it suitable for various cooking methods.
滩羊肉的优点是瘦肉率高，脂肪分布均匀。从小“吃中草药，喝山泉水”也是其肉质鲜美的原因之一。
