月牙泉处于鸣沙山环抱之中，是一处神奇的漫漫沙漠中的湖水奇观，其形酷似一弯新月而得名。
Crescent Spring is nestled within the embrace of Mingsha Mountain, creating a miraculous spectacle of a lake amid the vast desert. Its shape resembles a crescent moon and thus it gets the name.
水质甘冽，澄清如镜。泉边芦苇丛生，水中鱼儿自在，胡杨沙枣绿树成荫，罗布麻、枸杞等药用植物丰茂。
The water is sweet and clear as a mirror. Reeds flourish along the spring's edge, and fish swim freely in its waters. The area is shaded by poplar trees and Chinese date trees, with an abundance of useful plants like sword-leaf dogbane and Goji berries.
流沙与泉水之间仅距离数十米，但常虽遇烈风但泉水始终没有被流沙所掩没，虽地处戈壁但泉水依然不浊不涸。这种沙泉共生，泉沙共存的独特地貌，是为“天下奇观”。
Though there is only a short distance between the shifting sands and the spring, even when fierce winds blow, the spring remains untouched by the encroaching sands. Despite being located in the heart of the desert, the spring's waters never become turbid or run dry. This unique landscape, where sand and spring coexist, is hailed as one of the world's wonders.
